I first heard about Delicate Steve on NPR's music blog, The Record. The post included a token Youtube clip, but it was less a review of the music than a commentary on the nature of journalism. That's right, just as Fox News caters to right leaning constituants and left leaning voyeurs alike, NPR can't help but toss a bone to its hipster readership by making a simple 'hey check out this band' blog post into a treatise on the nature of editorial existence. The article spent most of its twenty-two paragraphs discussing the press release sent out by Delicate Steve's label. To be fair, it was something of a Hegelian press release if there could be such a thing, and worthy of some sort of commentary. But really, it glossed over one important fact: Delicate Steve is damn good music. Have a listen, and if you want the treatise, it's over at NPR.
