If I hadn't seen Hannah Miller play at the Eddie's Attic open mic shootout last summer, I don't think I'd ever have believed that this tune wasn't from some archived Karin Bergquist solo album. Miller hits Bergquist's quiet intensity so perfectly that I'm tempted to replace my copy of The Trumpet Child with Miller's Journey to the Moon. Plus, the playfulness of Miller's backing tracks and simplicity of arrangement (I'm a sucker for a dry, dirty acoustic) beat Over the Rhine's heady piano any day. I realize I might be alone on this last point, but hey, I like what I like.
